In the framework of the Biennial Meeting of the Society for Social Anthropology, I filmed several videos refugees and asylum contestants in Bratislava. The conference theme was „displacements“ and it was created to be an online only, multimedia, carbon-conscious gathering. I wanted to take advantage of the enhanced visual component and integrated some first-hand accounts on the topic from people who were actually displaced and contrast them with the popular narrative that no refugee would ever come to or stay in Slovakia voluntarily. Jean Pierre was one of those who agreed to make his video public. I asked Jean Pierre what he wants people to know about life as a refugee in Slovakia. Jean-Pierre is from Burundi and has been living in Slovakia for almost 2 years.
